1. Boot the computer into the “Safe Mode” options by pressing F8 prior the Windows Logo. 
2. Select the option “Repair Your Computer” 
Note: If you do not have this option, you will need the Windows Disc. Once you have that disc, boot into it as if you were to install windows and after you select the language you will get the “Repair Your Computer” option. 
3. Now you can get into Command Prompt 
4. From the Command Prompt window, navigate to \Windows\winsxs folder 
5. Then type: rename pending.xml to pending.old.xml 
6. Now reboot the PC, you might still see the configuring updates, but this time it will go away.

When the key value name is not defined, distribution is not blocked.

• When the key value name is set to 0, distribution is not blocked.
• When the key value name is set to 1, distribution is blocked.

Had the problem where everytime this Asus P5VD2-VM Motherboard would start, it would load the PCI to PCI Bridge and then Realtek NIC drivers (i.e. Windows has found new devices and is installing them). A reboot wouldn’t be affected, cold boot this would happen and then it would have trouble getting an IP Address. Also the sound wasn’t working, updating driver from manufacturers website solved it. The thing was, a clean install of Vista had it installing all the drivers ok, and saying everything was working. Even the sound issue, when playing a file you could see the meter working but no sound, until I updated the driver. Installing Windows XP on to the same machine, everything worked from the outset. Problem was found to be an outdated BIOS (ver 0402) Updated it to 1302, all ok.
